Nice day for a hike up at Brother’s Creek. Luckily it was mainly shaded so we didn’t get too hot from the 30 degree weather. We started this trail at Millstream road in West Vancouver from the start point outlined on Google maps.
You get a nice view of Vancouver to start the hike.
We found it a little bit confusing at times trying to figure out which way to go to do the proper Brothers Creek loop as the trail had options to go off to different trails a few times. There are signs on the way but also be sure to locate yourself on the GPS beforehand (you can match the loop from the Vancouver trails site to your GPS and check in as you go).
When we got to the first sign this is the trail we followed.
A picture of what the path looked like. It was rocky and fairly steep.
Once you reach this point you have the option to take a cross over path if you are looking for a shorter hike. We continued up to do the full loop.
Once you follow the trail up to the creek you will see the bridge to cross the creek is no longer there. We had some gentlemen help us cross over the creek. It is possible to do so but can be a little tricky and we almost lost my friends daughter’s shoe down the creek actually! Haha.
We found it was definitely worth it to cross over the creek and loop around. We enjoyed the trail on the way down as it changed from rocky to more loggy and packed dirt which we found easier to walk on. Also we enjoyed walking down the creek and passing a couple of nice waterfalls.
Below is a photo of the trail on the opposite side, you can definitely notice the change in the trail paths from the first trail photo.
The first waterfall we saw.
The bridge crossing over past the second waterfall we saw.
We ended up on the Baden Powell trail as we must have missed a turn off but this trail crossed right over to where we started anyway. If you don’t like the idea of crossing the creek i would suggest going up the opposite way we did.
The trail continuing onto Baden Powell trail when we turned right to head back to the trailhead start at Millstream Road. This part of the trail begins to get confusing and we had to use the GPS to make sure we turned down at the right time.
Below are two photos of the Baden Powell portion of the trail.
This trail took us about 3 and a half hours to do. We had an 8 year old with us so it is possible to finish the trail in less time at a faster pace. She found the trail to be a bit tough at times but she made it. I wouldn’t suggest bringing younger children unless you plan on carrying them. The trail is an intermediate hike. The trail is dog friendly, we passed a couple of people with dogs along the way of all different sizes. This is a great hike to do especially if you like hikes that are a lot less populated! We found it to be pretty secluded for the most part.
