It was a beautiful day to finally hike to Green drop lake. I had always just gone to Lindeman lake the times before. Next time I’d like to do the whole loop and see Flora lake as well! The hike took us about 6 hours round trip with a lunch break at Green drop. We started at around 8:15am and got back to the main parking lot at 2:30pm.
The foot traffic was minimal on the way up, we mainly saw some overnight campers who were packing up. On the way down foot traffic increased heavily, especially from Lindeman lake. So you definitely want to start early to avoid the crowds and definitely start early if you are wanting to find a good camping spot at either Lindeman or Green drop as they appeared to fill up fast.

The steepest part of the trail is when you are hiking up to Lindeman lake.

Below are a few photos of the trail on the way up to Lindeman lake.

Once you pass Lindeman lake the trail is not as steep but becomes more technical in the sense that you need to really think about where to step as you go due to many large sections with large boulders to climb through and some with loose rocks. The trail terrain changes up though so your legs and feet get breaks here and there.

Here are some photos of the trail up to Green drop lake

It takes about 45 minutes to an hour to get up to Lindeman lake and then another 1.5-2 hours to get to Green drop lake. All depending on pace and skill level of course. It is definitely an intermediate trail that offers a good workout and a good pay off with a beautiful trail throughout and 2 gorgeous crystal clear lakes. We found some really interesting and colorful fungi on the trees during our hikes that we definitely had to stop to take photos of.

The weather was perfect yesterday as it was low 20s with a nice light breeze. It started off cloudy and then cleared up a bit half way through our hike.

I would say up to Lindeman the trail is dog friendly and kid friendly but due to the boulders on the way to Green drop younger children and probably some dogs it wouldn’t be a good hike for.

Lindeman lake vs. Green drop lake

Be prepared for the hike. Hiking boots are highly recommended with good ankle support as well as the use of hiking poles if you have them. We were surprised to see people hiking without backpacks or even a bottle of water. Water and snacks are definitely needed especially if you are going to Green drop.

It was an awesome hike (highly recommended!) and I went with a great group of people! Looking forward to the next hike!
